Our children are the ‘always on’ generation. It is a natural way of life for them to have masses of information available online at the click of a keyboard or a swipe of a screen. They routinely share and connect with others via social media and gaming, and new advances in technology continue to bring new ways to learn, play and socialise.

But of course, while we are in the era of connectivity, we are also in the era of online grooming, online bullying or cyberbullying, online hate, fake news, catfishing and false identities.

All this means it can be a real challenge for parents to keep up to date with the online world and the risks children face, and to feel confident and empowered to keep their children safe online.

We have written this workshop specifically for parents and carers of children aged 7 - 12. It is designed to be easy to access, easily digestible, free from ‘geek speak’ (technical jargon), and quick to action.

We can deliver the workshop to groups of parents in person or via Zoom. The content includes:

  • The need to balance the many benefits of the digital world with the many risks to the safety of children.

  • An awareness of how children typically engage with the online world and how this will change as they get older.

  • How to set boundaries and put measures in place to monitor them

  • How to recognise and respond to online activity which could be harmful

  • What a digital footprint is and why it matters.

  • Where to get additional help: for parents and children.
