Internet Safety Workshop
For children aged 8 - 12
Our children are the ‘always on’ generation and it is a natural way of life for them to have masses of information at the click of a keyboard or a swipe of a screen. They routinely share and connect with others via social media and gaming, and new advances in technology continue to bring new ways to learn, play and socialise.
But of course, while we are in the era of connectivity, we are also in the era of online grooming, online bullying, online hate, fake news and false identities.
Our Internet Safety Workshop for children aged 8 - 12 raises awareness of the hidden dangers of online connectivity and the dangers lurking in cyberspace. Children learn how to identify and guard against bullying online, false online identities and when personal information needs to be kept private.

There are a range of safety steps that children can take to protect themselves only covered in the workshop, including:
Password privacy: Creating passwords and keeping them safe.
Keeping private information private: Knowing what needs to be kept private, why it matters and what can happen if they don’t.
Sharing stuff: The dangers of sharing content with others and viewing illegal, explicit images and content.
Fake identities: How some people might not be who they say they are and why, and what to do about it.
Downloading dangers: Avoiding viruses, trojans, malware and illegal content.
Online bullying: What it is, how it works, the effects it can have and what to do about it.
We recommend that children are taught how to keep themselves safe online at an early age, and certainly by the time they leave Key Stage 2 (aged 11). By then most children have become sophisticated users of technology without the tools to keep themselves safe and deal with the dangers.
